Cloudflare gives AI agents an identity and a wallet
Cloudflare announced Wallets — a programmable payment layer built for AI agents rather than people. Agents deployed on Cloudflare now get a stable identity (cloudflare.pay handles) and the ability to make purchases online, using the x402 protocol for verifiable, auditable payments within spend caps set by their human creators.
The three-part announcement — a browser, a wallet, and a payment protocol — only makes sense read together. It's the first move by a major infrastructure company to treat agents as first-class economic actors on the web. None of the hyperscalers has offered a direct equivalent as of August 2026.

Reddit fades from ChatGPT citations
Reddit's share of ChatGPT Search citations collapsed 86% — from 3.83% to 0.52% — in a single week after OpenAI changed how ChatGPT Search retrieves sources. The drop happened between August 7 and August 14.
In Promptwatch's comparison last September, Reddit was by far the most-cited network at 3.2%, compared with runner-up LinkedIn at 0.3%. Reddit's CCO said the drop has "no meaningful impact" on its business because LLMs account for little of its traffic. But the story is a cautionary tale about generative engine optimization: the ground shifts beneath whatever channel you pin your hopes on.
